CPH – Tech&Law Breakfast: Legal implications of Big Data in Danish Healthcare – by Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen

Pejsestuen (Atrium under the stairs), ground floor, room 7A.0.16, Njalsgade 76 Njalsgade 76, Copenhagen

This presentation will focus on current applications of big data in Danish healthcare system, drawing on recent developments including the National Genome Centre and the Sundhedsplatform. To what extent does existing legislation, namely, the Health Law Act, and the General Data Protection Regulation, enable the use of cutting edge technologies in the Danish healthcare system for the benefit of the collective? And, is the individual, whether patient or research subject, adequately protected by the current legal regime, or do we need new legal norms? The talk draws on ongoing research in two interdisciplinary projects: Personalised Medicine in the Welfare State (MeinWe) and PolicyAid.
